General Questions
All our products are manufactured in-house in our GMP approved facility in the Byron Bay Shire in New South Wales, Australia.
Plant-based cosmetics work in the same way that nutrients work in food. Our bodies will absorb what they require.
Antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids and vitamins assist with skin maintenance and cellular regeneration and can act as free radical deterrents, creating a sustainable impact upon the entire organism.
The human organism recognises and readily assimilates active ingredients from plant cells in an integrated and proportional way. They are absorbed, rather than treated as unrecognisable foreign bodies that end up being stored. The skin cells receive a balanced source of energy from plants so that every component is complementary to the whole improving overall cell vitality.
The long-term effects of using chemicals and their combinations and interactions are unquantifiable and impossible to define. More people are experiencing allergies and sensitivities and terminal illnesses as a direct result of environmental pollutants. Our ongoing exposure can be accumulative so the more we can minimise chemicals and toxins, the better it is for our health and wellbeing.
The manufacturing of chemicals that are found in most products is not sustainable and creates further environmental damage. By choosing organic and natural skincare products you can help alleviate your impact and environmental footprint.
Your skin is extremely permeable.
It transpires as well as absorbs, especially leave-on products like facial creams, hair dyes and makeup.
Exposure to small amounts of various toxins everyday can accumulate in the tissues and organs of your body. Recent scientific studies show that a lot of chemicals are toxic even at very low doses.
Some chemicals may be the culprits of the infertility epidemic. If you're concerned about your hormones and infertility, avoid exposure to unnecessary chemicals.
No.
Our products are tested by us, third-party laboratories and through trial and review processes, sometimes including you!
We rigorously audit our supply chain and guarantee that all our products and raw ingredients have not been tested on animals.
Yes!
All our face, hair and body care products are vegan and are
free from animal by-products.
We DO NOT use palm oil as a direct input in any of our products.
In the process of manufacturing, there are a few ingredients in which palm oil may used as a byproduct in some surfactants and emulsifiers. We ensure that any raw material suppliers that we work with only incorporate sustainable palm oil from plantations that have been certified as Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). We do not support the negative impacts of palm oil cultivation including deforestation and the devastation it causes to the environment, animals and communities.
There are many reasons how and why sustainable palm oil is used. For more information, visit https://rspo.org/about
The word 'organic' is not regulated.
Independent certification by a regulated certification body means that all certified organic ingredients used in products meet the Australian Organic Standard and are derived either from plants or from allowable organic inputs.
Look for a 'certified organic' logo from a genuine and reputable third-party certifier. Check the percentage of the organic content on the product label found in the ingredients panel.
The most important steps:
1. Cleanse (double cleanse every evening if you can!)
2. Moisturise morning and night
SPF should be included to protect your skin from harmful UV damage that could cause future skin complications like loss of collagen, pigmentation, dehydration, fine lines, wrinkles, barrier impairment, sensitives and skin cancers.
Regular exfoliation is also an important step to keep skin regenerating at optimal speed. It assists skin shedding which in turn will assist in hydration, plumping fine lines and the overall appearance and health of the skin.
Natural and organic skincare products have a balancing and detoxifying effect which is a long-term program with ongoing results.
For some products, you may see a difference immediately, as skin gets a super-dose of nutrients and moisture.
For other products, such as the Age Defiance Collection and Boosters, the repair work is happening at the deeper layers of the skin and results may take 6-8 weeks.
Generally, most people will see a visible difference and improved skin health within a couple of weeks and an improvement in skin conditions such as wrinkles and hyperpigmentation within three months.
Plant-based ingredients have active constituents like antioxidants, carotenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids that encourage the skin to regenerate, hydrate, tone, stimulate, heal, nourish, relax, and tighten.
To reach the optimal goal of clear, radiant skin you'll need to balance your internal system through a well-balanced, nutritional program based on unprocessed, whole foods, adequate water intake and regular movement.
Hormonal breakouts generally appear on the jaw line, chin and sometimes around the mouth. They are often cystic, red and sore but are sometimes large bumps underneath the skins surface.
Digestive breakouts are usually on the cheeks and the middle of the forehead and will appear as pustules or papules.
Congestion, blackheads and other small bumps on the skin’s surface generally occur from dehydration, a lack of exfoliation or incorrect product usage and are an accumulation of oil underneath the surface of the skin.
The best practice is to introduce products one at a time so you can easily determine products that are not agreeing with your skin. Product breakouts generally appear as small bumps underneath the surface of the skin, or small blackheads or milia.
Sometimes these will occur as your skin purges synthetic products or becomes used to a new ingredient. Introducing products slowly will allow your skin to adjust.
• Start with the basics – a cleanser and moisturiser.
Our Calming Collection is fragrance free and has been specifically formulated for sensitive skin.
• Make the change gradually.
• Introduce 1 product at a time.
• All ingredients are generally safe for all skin types, but some people may still have individual allergies to certain plant botanicals.
• We recommend purchasing samples and performing a patch test on the inside of your arm by placing a small amount of product on your arm, cover with an adhesive bandage and leaving overnight.
Our Calming Collection is fragrance-free.
We only use essential oils in minimal percentages that have been chosen for their therapeutic effect on the skin.

We use several plant-based preservative systems dependent on the product.
This includes small concentrations of natural plant-based alcohols and extracts, native Australian extracts, vitamin E and natural antioxidants.
Preservation is necessary and is there to protect the end user from harmful yeasts, moulds and bacteria.
Our preservatives are COSMOS standard approved. Our broad-spectrum preservative in our skin care products is a combination of dehydroacetic acid found in nature in flowers and benzyl alcohol which is a naturally occurring constituent found in essential oils, teas and fruits.
Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate are not added to our products but are supplied as the preservative system from our native extract suppliers. The amount in our formulas is 0.015% or less.
Both these preservatives are food grade preservatives. They have been reviewed by Cosmetic Ingredient Review and they have confirmed that levels at less than 5% are safe.
Violet glass packaging has proven to be the most optimal receptacle for cosmetics.
Biophotonic technology protects the concentrated and active formulations by filtering out harmful rays of light. Only the violet light wavelength is able to penetrate the glass.
Some citrus oils are photosensitising when used in direct sunlight.
Certain oils are best avoided during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.
If uncertain, please check with your health practitioner first and read our disclaimer.

Product Questions
The quantity of each product you use will vary according to the type and viscosity of the product itself.
Your cleanser and exfoliant will be around a 10-cent coin, and a 20-cent coin for your masque (or however much is required to cover your face as well as neck and décolletage if you choose).
Your serums will often be a single pump or a large pea-sized amount, and eye cream around half of this.
Your moisturiser should be around a 10-cent coin – again, depending on whether you take this down to your neck and décolletage.
Face oil will often travel quite far, with just 3-4 drops required.
Around a teaspoon of sunscreen is recommended for your face, and another for neck and décolletage.
Double cleansing ensures your skin is clear of impurities; makeup, sunscreen, pollution, dirt and dust that can get trapped in the layers of the dermal and cause inflammation, dehydration, pigmentation, breakouts and other skin issues. This also makes sure your skin is regenerating effectively and allows for deeper product penetration.
The first cleanse removes external impurities and oily build up whilst the second cleanse cleans into your skin.
As our skin ages or is exposed to harsh environmental factors it becomes less effective at desquamation, which is the process of old skin cells shedding. Dead and dehydrated skin cells tend to accumulate on the surface. This causes dullness, fine lines, overproduction of oil, congestion, blackheads, dryness and inhibits products absorption.
Mists are a wonderful way to increase the amount of nourishment and active ingredients your skin receives. Mists can also encourage greater product penetration and make your serums last longer.
We used to believe that wounds should be kept dry during the healing process, but we now know that the wet-healing method is much more effective, and this is because skin that is kept moist and hydrated better facilitates the inflammatory cascade, cell proliferation and protein synthesis required for healing.
The same sentiment is true for our skin in general – its functions improve when kept hydrated, and it also means ingredients are more effectively transported through our cellular membranes.
In addition, misting can also be used as a wonderful calming ritual to promote self-care and stress reduction. Stress has far-reaching negative impacts, not just on our minds but our physical bodies, our skin, brain, and other organs, so reducing this in any way we can is beneficial – whether it be meditation or a simple mist!
Moisturisers should be used after cleansing and misting to rehydrate and deeply nourish the skin. They are formulated to create a protective barrier against oxidants and moisture loss. If you're applying serums as well, apply moisturiser after the serums have absorbed. Note areas of dryness/oiliness. If the skin is producing sufficient oil in certain areas, then leave it be.
Serums are lightweight yet packed with specialised ingredients. Their molecular structure is smaller and designed to penetrate the deeper dermal layers of the skin to offer optimum results. They have a cosmeceutical effect that targets more than one concern.
Moisturisers offer hydration and protection and assist to seal in the nutrients. They should contain a balanced concentration of emollients, including plant-based oils that contain essential fatty acids to rejuvenate and repair the skin.
Many serums target multiple conditions such as sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, dullness, congestion, brightening or inflammation.
Their small molecular structure and microencapsulated delivery systems allow the product to penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin and deliver the essential actives where they are most needed. They’re a great addition to your skincare regime if you are working towards a specific goal or you’re looking for a specific solution.
Products that contain Vitamin A or its derivatives do the heavy lifting, like brightening and exfoliating. Traditionally only be used in the evening, our Vital A is safe for use both day and night.
Use all other products twice a day.
Our Age Defiance and Booster Collections are designed to be suitable to use in conjunction and offer the best results this way.
Our Age Defiance Collection provides the skin with active peptides to send messages to the skin cells, bio-available vitamins and potent plant-based antioxidants to make changes to the skin. For optimal age reversal results it is recommended to use the products as a collection.
The Vitamin Booster Collection feeds your skin with a powerful dose of essential vitamins each day to maintain and improve skin health. The active vitamins are essential for healthy skin, repair and renewal, normal DNA function and as a preventative to skin conditions.
Our Barrier Repair Serum is a soothing formula is for hormonally reactive and sensitised skin, so it is fragrance free and non-irritating. The silky serum quickly absorbs into the skin, leaving your complexion hydrated and glowing..
The Hyaluronic Marine Serum is designed to deliver deep and long-lasting hydration and can be added to any routine to target dehydration and fine lines.
They can all be safely used together. It is best practice to introduce Vitamin A serums to your skin slowly.
After double cleansing and misting, apply your serum and/or elixir. Ideally these can be layered, allowing a few moments between each application for ultimate product penetration.
We suggest layering in immediate succession for best results and layering no more than three serums at a time. Start with the lightest or thinnest and finish with a heavier serum. There are a few serums that do have special instructions.
Follow serum application with your recommended moisturiser to seal and protect your skin.
For additional hydration and a boost of nutrients, combine with a few drops of our Antioxidant Facial Oil.
If you are using an oil, then it should be applied as the final step in your regime.
Every ingredient has been specifically chosen for its anti-aging properties to assist with rejuvenating and maintaining the skin. They work together to inhibit free radical formation, protect collagen, reduce inflammation, detoxify the skin and slow down the visible signs of ageing.
A significantly high ratio of rejuvenating peptides is infused into a certified organic base with a synergistic combination of native Australian extracts and soothing aloe vera and contain naturally occurring phytonutrients, vitamins and antioxidants that control moisture loss while repairing and restoring damaged skin making them one of the most active anti-ageing products on the market.
Peptides are short-chain proteins that naturally occur in the skin and act mainly as messengers (signalling peptides) or hormones. They've have been shown to play a key role in natural skin healing processes. Products containing peptides are claimed to have smoothing and nourishing effects on the skin. The amino acid sequence and chain structure determine the specific biological activity and function.
Skincare formulations are incredibly nuanced.
Being fixated on a higher percentage does not necessarily equate to better results or a better product.
When evaluating a product, the formulation needs to be considered as a whole. Percentages are dependent on the overall formulation efficacy. This includes and is not limited to:
- Synergistic or complimentary ingredients
- Bioavailability of the active ingredients
- Delivery system of the active ingredients
- Stability of the active ingredients
- Marketing claims of the active ingredients
At Mukti Organics, we only use actives at the higher percentile that the products were tested and evaluated for clinical trials. We choose not to disclose percentages, as they make up proprietary formulas that are part of our company’s intellectual property.
Some brands share ingredient percentages as part of their unique selling position and to differentiate them from their competitors. This doesn’t mean that the product will necessarily be more effective, as explained above, ingredient percentages are not the only element of efficacy. Claiming that a particular ingredient is only effective at X % is not always an accurate statement.
Micro Dermal Roller is a tool with small needles that creates microscopic channels on the surface of the skin to promote deeper product penetration. 'Micro trauma’ is generated in the skin, which stimulates a healing response.
This is a great tool to use in conjunction with your serums and elixirs.
After cleansing gently roll over the surface of the skin using cross hatch motions (horizontal, vertical and diagonal) four times. Your skin may be red afterward but this should settle quickly.
If you experience sensitivities, raised scarring or dermal impairment this may not be the ideal treatment for you.
For best absorption, layer products in immediate succession starting with the lightest (serum) to the heaviest allow a few moments for each product to penetrate between steps.
If you are using oil on its own, we recommend applying it while the skin is still damp from your mist.
Warm approximately ¼ to ½ dropper of oil between palms.
Massage over face/neck/chest avoiding eye contour area. Facial massage helps stimulate circulation by assisting the blood and lymphatic system.
There are some skins that are considered ‘true acne’ that experience a skin condition that affects the hair follicles and oil glands. We see an overproduction of sebum and a weaker hair shaft which restricts the ability for the oil to flow to the surface and form part of the barrier function. There are many oils in various forms that are considered ‘comedogenic’ and will further block these glands which will accelerate breakouts.
Our products are non-comedogenic.
Our Antioxidant Facial Oil is a lightweight oil free from waxes and nut oils, designed to balance oil production by providing a balanced synergy of Omega 3-6-9 Essential Fatty Acids.
Counterintuitive to what you may think, oils clear up congestion more efficiently than any other method as oils can dissolve the oils that naturally occur in the skin (sebum), penetrating deeply into the skin and breaking up blockages.
Essential Fatty Acids have numerous benefits for the skin as they act as building blocks in the skin cells, strengthening the skin’s surface layers for a smoother, healthier and younger-looking complexion.
Omega 3 oils assist in controlling inflammation and Omega 6 oils can relieve a greasy feeling by thinning naturally occurring sebum found on the surface of the skin. They are also effective at easing eczema, psoriasis, and dandruff.
Our physical SPF is a zinc-based sunscreen that provides approximately 93% protection against UV radiation. The general guideline for sunscreen is to reapply every 2 hours. Ensure at least ½ a teaspoon is applied to each area of the face at least 20 minutes prior to sun exposure.
A physical sunscreen acts as a physical barrier on the skin and works by reflecting most of the UV rays.
A chemical sunscreen contains UV absorbing chemicals.
We originally developed our tinted shade to mask the whiteness of zinc oxide, that forms the base of the product. Unfortunately, we are limited in the variety of shades we could create due to the zinc oxide base and the finite palette of iron oxides that were available to us. As a brand that celebrates beauty in diversity, this spawned our drive to create a colourless sunscreen that would suit every skin tone. We have since launched our Daily Moisturiser with Sunscreen with 20% zinc oxide (equivalent of SPF15). It provides unmatched sun protection without a white undertone and layers effortlessly underneath your favourite foundation or powder.
We use all essential oils responsibly and in safe levels, however all products should be used at your own discretion or in consult with your healthcare provider.
We recommend avoiding the following products during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
• Botanique Deodorant – contains clary sage essential oil
We do use lime essential oil in six of our products, five of which are wash off products, so phototoxicity would not present a problem with these. (For phototoxicity to occur, the chemical constituents need to bind to DNA in the skin and then react with UV light, killing the cells and damaging tissues).
It is important to note the method of extraction for essential oils, with cold pressing being deemed more likely to induce phototoxicity. Steam distillation on the other hand is thought to greatly reduce and in many cases negate, the phototoxicity of essential oils. The only "leave on” product that we produce which contains lime oil is the Tinted Moisturiser with Sunscreen and it is a steam distilled lime oil therefore posing very little risk of phototoxicity. The use of lime essential oil in our products is also at a very low level, at less than 0.2%. The safe percentage of dilution for lime essential oil is 0.7%.
